“The family provides an upward migration path for the Aurix TC3x family,” according to the company. “It features the next-generation TriCore 1.8 and the new parallel processing unit, a SIMD vector DSP which addresses the demands of various AI topologies – this may include real-time control and radar post processing.”

Facilities for secured over-the-air software updating are included, plus diagnosis and analysis during vehicle usage. Interfaces for 5Gbit Ethernet, PCI Express, CAN-XL and 10BASE T1S Ethernet are included amongst the devices.

Processors will run at up to 500MHz and support virtualisation. Up to 25Mbyte if on-chip flash will be included on some devices – with A-B swap partitioning for updates. Cybersecurity modules are intended to meet the new ISO 21434 standard, said the company, and software development tools will enable AI-based functional safety up to ASIL-D.

For software development tools, Infineon is collaborating with Synopsys for TC4x-specific versions of  Virtualizer development kit, and DesignWare ARC MetaWare Toolkit for compilers, debuggers, libraries and simulation.

“Building automotive systems to address safety functionality requires the implementation of AI technology using both hardware and software,” claimed Synopsys marketing v-p John Koeter. “Our collaboration with Infineon helps Infineon’s customers develop AI-driven functionality for applications such as powertrain and ADAS processing.”

Other partnerships are in the pipeline, said Infineon, as is Matlab support for for auto-code generation.

Sampling is to selected customers – production is scheduled for the second half of 2024. The Synopsys tools are available now.
